My Story with an eczema baby
I started Snooky Bamboo Baby Wear after discovering the benefits bamboo fabric has for babies with sensitive skin and the positive impact bamboo has on the environment.
I am a mum with two toddlers and a newborn. When the two toddlers were babies they had eczema and it would drive me crazy watching them constantly scratch, they would be up in the night crying and itching. You would look at their skin and feel so sorry for them and quite helpless as you would try one thing after another to relieve their suffering. I hated using hydrocortisone cream believing continual use could thin their skin and it had given me dermatitis over my face in my mid twenties.

I noticed the type of fabric they wore next to their skin strongly affected their desire to scratch and the condition of their skin. Frustrated with the lack of alternative fabrics available I started to do my own research, and discovered bamboo. The more I read about this product the more fascinated I was with it. Bamboo fabric contains so many beneficial properties for skin irritations. It sounded perfect for a baby’s skin.
It wasn’t long before I had my youngest, Grace who is one & half, in some samples I made up. The results were amazing, her skin improved and continues to be much better than it has ever been. I am not proclaiming every baby wearing bamboo will be healed from skin problems, but if there is a chance it will help ease their discomfort a little, isn’t it worth a try?
I now have baby number 3 happy and content dressed in his bamboo clothes and no sign of eczema !!

Grace turned 3 the other day so I thought I should give you an update on how she is. Going back over the last year when she started talking, sometimes she would wake in the night crying and say her tummy was sore. After a big move to Auckland and coming out the other side of baby Liam, I finally took her to an allergy specialist. No allergies showed up in her skin prick or blood tests. The specialist believed she had a food intolerance. We were referred to a dietitian who tried her on a salicylates free diet. This made a huge difference to her sleep and tummy problems and her general behaviour. Grace is also booked in next month for grommets in her ears. I am hoping this will be the final step in my little girl being the happy, bouncy princess that we love.
